Gulkhar had not knitted for twenty years until we came; it took her a few months of practice but she now knits beautiful socks. Living with her brother and his family after a failed marriage, she loves her nephew and nieces as if they were her own. She passionately guards her chickens from predators, knitting near them outside whenever possible. Knitting has given her a level of independence that she is proud of.
